Keepin’ It Reel Charter fishing starts out in the cold waters of late May, fishing closer to shore and with “short lines” as the fish are generally near the surface as the water temperature begins to warm up. These are good times for catching Cohos and some Browns, as well as the Lake Trout, and Salmon |

In June and July we travel farther off shore to the deeper waters and fishing grounds for lean powerful Lake Trout and Coho as they follow bait fish and cooler water. Out in deeper water is where we find thermal clines down a little deep, or bug lines on the surface of the Lake, as the Lake Trout, Salmon and Steelhead school-up out here. There is plenty of action our here in “the deeps” and 20 fish on in a day is common. We fish for King Salmon starting in June through August and if weather permits, beyond August. |

In August, we fish for those Huge King Salmon. As the water warms up Lake Trout are plentiful, although lean they are harder to find. Quality is what we’re after, as we look for nice lean Chinook or King Salmon and possibly Lake Trout, and the beginning of a Coho Salmon run. This is great time for “catching your trophy” fishing. |

September brings shorter days and a cool down of the waters near Black River Harbor. The Coho’s start to come near shore again. This is a beautiful month, with excellent fishing days getting better as spawning begins. Coho are more plentiful again. |
